You’ve probably seen one of these neighborhood watch signs around. The one pictured above is just a few feet away from our driveway and the sticker is in one of our windows, presumably stuck there by a previous tenant. I see this thing a lot and every time I do, a few things come to mind:

1. Is this really who we’re on the lookout for? Not teenage vandals but old-timey cat burglars? Narrow-eyed dudes wearing fedoras with their trench coat collars pulled up?

2. Actually, looking closer at the image, it’s hard to determine exactly what’s being represented here. Looked at differently, the gap between the “face” and the “coat” actually looks like a mouth. So the picture is of a cartoony-looking robber with a big mouth and an underbite.
